Granite
Q: Why are granites different
prices?
A: Price depends primarily on the rarity and availability
of the stone and also the degree of difficulty in quarrying. For
example, Blue Pearl is one of the more expensive types of granite
as it is considered to be very exotic
and rare and only about 20% of the quarried material is suitable
for domestic use.
Q: What are the benefits
of using granite?
A: Granite is a product of nature and has a beauty
not seen in man made products. It is a solid surface which requires
little maintenance. Matching granite backsplashes provide a stunning
appearance. Granite maximizes the
impact a kitchen has in a home and increase the value of the property
substantially.
Q: How do I maintain granite?
A: A chamois or general granite cleaner can be
used daily to keep the granite sparkling; we also provide a number
of polishers and sealers that can be applied preferably twice a
year but once will also suffice.
Q: Do I need to select
my slabs or are the samples accurate enough?
A: Since granite is a product of nature, differences
in color and grain do occur. Our experience has shown that since
materials vary from batch to batch and slab to slab it is best to
select your slab. We are one of few companies that have the slabs
on display in our yard and you can sign each slab you want cut for
your countertops.
Q: Will the granite stain?
A: Although all products that come out of the shop
are sealed with impregnator, we do not recommend you leave red wine
or oil spills, hot greasy pots on counter tops for an extended period
of time. That's why we recommend sealing the granite few time a
year with sealers and impregnators that can be be purchased.
Q: Will the granite chip?
A: With normal use no it is the most scratch resistance
natural stone. But it is possible to scratch any countertop surface
with harder material than usual utensils and pots and pans.
Q: Can a hot saucepan
be placed directly on the granite?
A: 99% of cases this will not cause problems, it
is not recommended.
Q: What is the turn-around
time for granite countertops?
A: Depending on the time of year between 2 to 4
weeks maximum.
Custom Cabinetry and Cabinet Re-facing
Q: How do we make the best use of our kitchen space?
A: An experienced interior designer spends a full
day visualizing the best possible layout for the cabinets while
keeping your practical and visual preferences in line. Using CAD
software the plan is developed and 3D
drawings are provided which can be taken to any professional cabinetry
company for estimates.
Q: How long will my kitchen
be under renovation?
A: Installing a full kitchen depending on the size
of the project and the level of detailing involved takes anywhere
between 2 to 5 days. Re-facing is less than two days of work.
Q: What is the turn-around
time for Kitchen Cabinetry and Re-facing?
A: Depending on the time of year between 5 to 8
weeks maximum.
Q: When Re-facing cabinets,
the cabinet doors and drawer fronts are replaced with new ones.
What happens with panels or irremovable sections?
A: Panels can either be replaced with new ones
to match the new cabinet doors material and stain or wood veneer
can be applied to those sections to match the stain and wood of
the doors. At times those sections can also be
sanded and re-stained.
Q: Can we change some
cabinets and re-face others?
A: Yes, for example the upper cabinets can be changed
to higher ones extended to the ceiling and the lowers can be re-faced.
Q: How is cabinetry priced is there a formula?
A: Each Kitchen is priced differently. Consultations
are free. Our cabinet makers visit the site or have a look at the
plans, calculate material cost, the labor charges involved and the
company profit and come up with a figure
each time.
